Cursed City Expanded – Painting Journey (2021-2024)

Cursed City has official and unofficial expansions, and in true Warhammer Quest fashion offers itself up to expanding content from the model range and via White Dwarf articles, there is still a lot to work through to develop this game. There are many undead packs from which to extract new material, so here is my ongoing expansion journey and thoughts since i completed the core set painting.

Nemesis Expansion – this expansion comes with rules for a number of new units. The Vargheists are amazing models and painting these were great fun, and they came out so well.

The Wight King and Grave Guardians are covered in my set by The Sons of Velmorn warband from Gnarlwwod, an excellent group of models that i wanted to utilise with the Nemesis expansion rules, and much better sculpts than the official grave guardian box models.

The Sepulchral Guards from Warhammer Underworlds have been added as extra Grave Guardians and also there are custom rules available for Deathrattle Skeletons encounters too > Variants

The Necromancer is a perfect addition for the Cursed City theme.

The final group to add from Nemesis is the Dire Wolves … coming soon

White Dwarf added Flesh Eater Courts scenarios, to play these i am using my Vargheists as Crypt Slayers or other similar winged creatures, and added these Crypt Horrors. Other more unique enemies will be added over time …

A unique character card added a battle mage called Morrvahl Olbrecht. I re-painted and re-based a model from the original Warhammer Quest (1995) line, which i will use as my mage, until i one day buy the mage box set just to get the matching figure.

Custom Variant Additions – these are models that fit the theme well and variants have been written by fans > Variants

The excellent warband set of the Briar Queen and Nighthaunts which have custom rules available and specific scenarios too, plus i added the Knight of Shrouds as it is such a great model.

Hexbane Hunters are a perfect thematic hero group to add to Cursed City game, starting with Haskel, one of my all time favourite models and his two hounds. Custom rules here > Haskel Hexbane

More to come as this remains work in progress …
