I bought this game back on its original release in 1995 and collected almost all the expansions at the time. I have not showcased any of it on my website before, given it was painted so long ago. However this year i have decided to undertake a painting journey on this classic game, touching up or repainting models as i see the need, as there are elements i want to improve on this set. So here is my updated core box of this great game as i work through it.
Barbarian & Elf – i had completely repainted the original four heroes in 2016, as i knew i could improve on my first time around. I do not see any need to revisit them again.
Dwarf & Wizard – on my second paint visit i went for a red and green wizard.
Orcs and Goblins – i admit that i did not paint these. I saw these years ago and liked how they looked so much i bought them, and sold my own versions.
Skaven – these were in poor shape, garishly bright clothes with loads of metallic paint and green bases, i had to tone them down to my current style.
Minotaurs – i really like Miontaurs, and these early models are a little basic by todays standards, however a repaint and rebase made them more imposing.
Giant Bats – some minor tweaks but i did not want to spend too long on these.
Giant Spiders & Rats – completely repainted these from scratch and based the spiders
Snotlings – the final group are repainted little guys
Main box complete, now to tackle the expansions …
